Thanks to our sponsor, SBB Research Group, we are able to provide complimentary entry and USCF membership for Chicagoland Area students from Title I – Low Income schools.  To be eligible for this offer, the student must attend a Low Income School and play in a Junior Varsity section. To determine if your child’s attends a “Low Income school” search the GREAT SCHOOLS. After finding your school click on DETAIL then SCHOOL. Look for “Students participating in a free or reduced-price lunch program” if this is over 40% then your school is a Low Income school.


TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

PRIMARY (K-3) Varsity: open to all. Trophies: top 5 players, top rated Under 800 & top kindergartner top 2 schools. Junior Varsity: open to Under 600. Trophies: top 15 players, top Unrated & top kindergartner, top 4 schools.

ELEMENTARY(K-6) Varsity: open to all. Trophies: top 5 players, top rated Under 1000, top 2 schools. Junior Varsity: open to Under 800. Trophies: top 15 players, top Unrated, top 4 schools.

JUNIOR HIGH (K-9) Varsity: open to all. Trophies: top 4 players, top rated Under 1200, top school. Junior Varsity: open to Under 1000. Trophies: top 8 players, top Unrated, top 2 schools.

HIGH SCHOOL (K-12) Varsity: open to all. Trophies: top 5 players, top rated Under 1400, top school. Junior Varsity: open to Under 1200. Trophies: top 8 players, top Unrated, top 2 schools.

Any player who scores 4 or more points & doesn’t win a trophy will receive a medal!

FORMAT: 5-Round Swiss, Game 30 (G/25/d5) USCF dual rated

CHECK-IN/ONSITE REG: 8:30- 9:15

ROUNDS: 10:00, 12:00, 1:30, 3:00, 4:30

AWARDS: 6:00

TEAMS: Top 4 scores used for Team Awards, players must be from same school

BYES: One ½-pt bye, any round, if requested before end of Rd. 2

ENTRY FEE: $40 by 1/16; $50 by 1/30; $60 after, complimentary for student attending a Low Income school and playing in a Junior Varsity section. All FREE ENTRY players must preregister by 1/30 and check in at chess control on the day of the tournament by 0900 to play in round 1 

DISCOUNT: $5 off for siblings & team members when registering together

SERVICE FEES: $10 fee for refunds, $10 for section changes after 1/31

GAME ANALYSIS: FM Gauri Manoj is returning to provide game analysis

PARKING: Lot A – 2301 South Prairie Avenue, Chicago, IL 60616: (8′ height clearance) is a six level garage with 2,100 parking spaces located on Martin Luther King Drive, adjacent to the West Building. As of 8/1/16 the parking rate was $23 for up to 16 hours and $36 from 16 to 24 hours.* There are no in-and-out privileges.

FOOD: Concession food sales onsite by Savor.
