as of 4/20/16, a record breaking 447 players have registered so far for this year’s All-Girls National Championship taking place at the Hyatt McCormick Place in Chicago on April 22-24.
On Saturday March 5 392 CPS students came out and played in the playoffs at Whitney Young H.S. The top 3 teams and top 4 individuals not associated with an advancing team in each section will compete on March 19 at the CPS K-8 Championship.

The Knights Quest is a series of USCF rated tournaments that are held monthly in which players will receive points for games played. Upon completion of the yearly series in December, the top player from each section shall be declared the Champion of the Quest and receive a golden cup trophy as a reward. The point system for the series is: Win 1.0, Draw .5, Loss .25.
Betsy Carina Dynako wrote a very nice article on the Greater Chicago K-12 Championship and how through this tournament we gifted free entry into the tournament and complimentary US Chess memberships to 325 children who attend Title I schools. One hundred and eighty players benefited this year.
Congratulations to the winners of the 2016 Greater Chicago Championship. This year’s record breaking tournament had 354 players from 116 schools.
As of 2-5-16 there are 400 advanced entries for the 2016 Greater Chicago K-12 Championships which will take place today in Chicago. This puts us over last year’s record attendance of 327 players.

Through our continued partnership with Chicago Public Schools, we want to give every kid in Chicago the opportunity to learn, play and compete in chess.
We are sponsoring programs at 5 Chicago Public schools: Goethe, Lozano, Moos, Sabin, and Yates. But we need your help to continue funding these schools through the end of this school year.
