The Cops & Kids Chess program concluded this school year with a wonderful event. Over 140 students from 16 schools in grades 5-12 participated in the Cops & Kids Culminating event at Guaranteed Rate Field. Students had a chance to engage and play chess against officers and fellow students. Anthony Riccio, 1st Deputy from the Chicago Police Department greeted the crowd of officers, coaches, and students. World renowned poet and artist J Ivy, served as the event’s Master of Ceremony and surprised the group with a special performance.
Each student received a bag filled with items donated by Fed Ex, the Chicago White Sox and a signed copy of J Ivy’s book, “Dear Father”.
Thank you to all students, coaches, and officers for participating this school year! And a very special thank you to Bill Langle and Robin Robinson of the Chicago Police Department and to David and Sheila Heiser of Renaissance Knights for their contributions to making the event a huge success.
